How do I keep my pool and\/or spa water clean? Apart from chemicals to balance the pH, a filtration system is essential to keep your water clean<\/strong>. Why is this? Because it removes contaminants from the water. What are they and how do they appear? <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\n\n

Generally, these pollutants appear for 4 reasons:\r\n

  • The immobility of the water:<\/strong> if the water in your pond is not constantly in motion, it stagnates. Stagnant water is conducive to the growth of algae and insect larvae.<\/li>\r\n \t
  • Water temperature:<\/strong> the warmer the water in a pool or spa, the more likely it is that algae or bacteria will grow.<\/li>\r\n \t

    The filtration system in your pond<\/h2>
    How does the filtration system of a pool or spa work? A pump draws in water via the skimmer and\/or the bottom drain<\/strong>. The contaminated water is directed to one or more filters. These filters remove the impurities, and the clean water is then returned to the pool through the discharge nozzles<\/strong>. In addition to removing contaminants, this circuit also keeps the water moving, reducing the risk of algae or bacteria growth.<\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

    To avoid contamination, the water in your pool\/spa must be stirred as often as possible<\/strong>. In other words, it must be filtered throughout the year. However, the filtration time varies depending on the water temperature, the outside temperature, the number of users and the type of pump. <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\n\n

    Which filters should I choose for my filtration system?<\/h2>
    Several filter options are available depending on your systems. HIFI FILTER\u00ae offers two types of filters: cartridge filters and bag filters<\/strong>.\r\n\r\nGenerally suitable for above-ground pools, small and medium-sized pools and spas, our cartridge and bag filters are placed at different locations in the system and have their own characteristics. <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\n\n

    Cartridge filters<\/h2>
    Available under references beginning with “EAP”, our filter cartridges are installed before or after the pump according to the manufacturer’s filtration systems<\/strong>. Some models can be coupled with a prefilter mounted on the skimmer. How do they work? Contaminated water is sucked in through the suction port, then passes through the cartridge. The cartridge captures the impurities thanks to its pleated filter medium (filtration threshold: 20\u00b5m). The filtered water is reintroduced into the pool or spa via the discharge nozzles.<\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

    Specially designed for the filtration of your pools\/spas, our references PL 1382, PL 1383 and PL 1384 are installed directly behind the skimmer. Placed at this point, the pocket filter immediately retains the impurities carried along with the water via the suction mouth<\/strong>.       Maintenance of a pool\/spa filter<\/h2>
      Why should a pool\/spa filter be cleaned regularly? In the filtration circuit of a swimming pool, a filter must be clean in order to guarantee a fluid circulation of the water<\/strong>. Otherwise, a clogged filter will lead to overheating of the pump and motor, or even a breakdown. The flow rate will also be low, encouraging the development of impurities in the water. <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\n\n

      When to clean your filter?<\/h2>
      The frequency of cleaning your filter varies according to the season.<\/strong>\r\nIn the off-season, it is recommended that you clean your filter approximately every fortnight.\r\nIn the high season, when your pool or spa is used every day, your filter is put under more pressure. Remember to clean it once or twice a week. <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\n\n

      How to clean your filter?<\/h2>
      In accordance with the recommendations of the swimming pool specialists, a bag filter and a cartridge filter can be cleaned with a water jet.\r\n

      • For the bag filter: Turn it upside down beforehand, then hose it down. Turn it right side up before reinstalling it.<\/li>\r\n \t
      • For the cartridge filter: Spray water from the inside to the outside of the filter and from the top to the bottom for effective cleaning. Complete the cleaning with a suitable soft brush if necessary.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nAlternatively, you can clean your bag filter or cartridge filter by soaking them in a suitable cleaning agent.<\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

        After a while, repeated cleaning will damage your filter and make it ineffective. It is therefore recommended to change your filters:\r\n
