Urea filter

Recent vehicles have to comply with very strict anti-pollution standards. For this reason, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems have become mandatory for the majority of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.

What is the SCR system?

Depending on the technology, SCR can reduce the proportion of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas by up to 90%. The SCR system consists of a urea injection pump and a urea filter, which is necessary for its proper functioning. Urea, marketed as AdBlue, is a mixture of demineralised water (67.5%) and urea (32.5%). When dosed and injected into the exhaust stream, this aqueous solution turns into ammonia and causes a chemical reaction in the catalyst. The harmful nitrogen oxide particles are neutralised and converted into nitrogen and water.

The importance of the urea filter in the SCR system

The urea filter is essential to ensure the life of SCR systems on all types of vehicles. By filtering the urea before it is injected into the catalyst, this device reduces wear and tear on the metering unit and the injection nozzle. The urea filter is particularly important for construction vehicles and agricultural machinery that are subject to heavy use and harsh working conditions (dust, sand, dirt, etc.).
HIFI FILTER® designs high-performance urea filters that guarantee the durability of SCR systems for all types of vehicles.
